The Christian And Politics

This site is not dedicated to politics in any way, but it is a political year and so it is an issue that is on my mind. When the people of God in the Old Testament were sent into exile they were told to “. . .seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare” (Jer 29:7, ESV). In my understanding this principle applies to Christians today. After all, Peter calls this our time of exile (1 Peter 1:17). So as Christians we should be engaged, as informed citizens, in the political process. Not just for our own good, but for the good of our nation.
